it is a national lab, managed by LLNS

LLNL is a research institution and as such does not pay as well as tech, but the work is very interesting - you get to contribute to work that is more than just maximizing ad clicks- and you get to interact with lots of smart people.

Like I said the pay could be better, but the 401k company contribution is 9%, which is the highest I have ever seen.
