What is health insurance like at TEKsystems?

Pros

- The company you contract for MIGHT be pretty cool - you get paid every week - You will likely meet some really cool people and develop some long lasting work relationships.

Cons

I learned a lot about how much a company will try to squeeze out of one person before that person realizes their worth. - The benefits are not even remotely competitive, health insurance is terrible. - you earn 1 hour of vacation per 40 hours you work. there is no starting bank, and the hours do not carry over year to year. this means you will have to work 40 weeks before you get yourself 1 week of vacation, and thats if you don't have to miss a day or two here and there. there is no PTO and the only reason we got sick time was because of local labor laws. States that do not require sick time, you wont get it. - 0 incentives to perform at a higher level, or go above and beyond. - Undefined, if any type of career path. You want to make sure the company you contract for will have opportunity for employment, or you are otherwise spinning your wheels. Find out how many of the leaders you report to were hired on as a contractor and through passion and self motivation aligned with their company's values and moved up internally, or were an outside hire brought into a leadership role... i'd guess because the lack of core values and vision Teksystems has, not many people moved from the ground level up. - Make sure you get the starting wage appropriate for your responsibilities, as they "do not offer cost of living raises" and you will be vilified for even asking. - Fear monger based leadership with constant micromanaging. you often will report to 5-10 different people. At the end of the day, this is a job, you will get a paycheck. But the work being done will likely be unfulfilling at best, and very demeaning at its worse. - The health insurance they offer is absurdly bad.

Advice to Management

Find a way to motivate your employees to do well. Offer an incentive program or recognition program. Groom and vet your leaders and employees. Don't put a warm body in a seat just to fill a role and keep a contract. Work on a proper benefits package for your employees.

What is the retirement plan like at TEKsystems?

Pros

Weekly pay, some benefits, free lunches.

Cons

Just another IT contract Mafia, but this time with more annoying frat guy recruiters. You'll have a different HR rep every two weeks and get different answers from each one and recruiters will straight up lie to you regarding job details. Teksystems is also easily the lowest paying contract firm, they take way too much out of your paycheck to compensate for how many people they pay to send LinkedIn messages all day. I would get recruiters from teksystems trying to get me to take contracts while I was already working for them, that's how unorganized they are. There was one recruiter that said to an Indian coworker "oh so you wanna be like every other Indian guy and own a night club?" I thought that was so highly unprofessional and insensitive. Also benefits are expensive, just basic healthcare with no emergency unless you're paying some crazy amount per week. No 401k matching, and 401k is offered through Wells Fargo, another terrible company. Also several unpaid holidays.

Advice to Management

Everyone I've ever known who's either worked for or with teksystems has poor feedback. Find a way to change that.

Does TEKsystems offer dental insurance?

Pros

Over all TEKSystems is I'd say a standard large sized vendor company. They offer reasonable benefits, although it's an ala cart system.

Cons

The pay is a bit below average, It is possible to get more out of them but it requires playing reasonably serious hard ball in negotiation. As I said above the benefits are ala cart so it's pretty easy to wind up with coverage that totals up to quite a bit more than expected. Other benefits would change throughout the term of the contract. These changes were announce when you met with your vendor manager and had to sign off on it right then and there. There was no time to read over the documents. Once your assignment ends don't expect much from TEKSystems. They have no bench process, and you are going to need to keep up to date on their job boards if you want another placement through them. Their recruiters aren't there for you, but for their clients.

Advice to Management

Be more transparent and communicative with your employees. Work to actually retain talent. Bring your pay more in line with other vendor companies. Do not change benefits offered mid contract.
