      Marketing Interview

      4 Feb 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at APPINIO in Dec 2024

      Interview

I recently interviewed at Appinio and was initially excited about the opportunity, but the process raised concerns about their expectations and organization. A take-home case study was required, and while there was no stated expectation to spend excessive time on it, the scope of tasks would realistically take 30 hours in a real-world setting—showing a lack of respect for candidates' time. The review of the case study focused more on minor details than on overall strategic thinking or problem-solving. The interview also included overly complex hypotheticals that felt detached from real project workflows. Instead of a constructive discussion, it felt overly critical, disorganized, and at times unprofessional, as interviewers aired internal frustrations and pressed me on how I would fix them. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and candidates should be mindful of the time investment required.

      Question 1

How would you set expectations for the team on time management when no one is communicating and multiple people are assigning you overlapping projects?

Hey there, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations. We strive to create a fair and respectful interview process, and your insights are valuable in helping us improve. We recognize that case studies should be a meaningful exercise without becoming an excessive time burden, and we’ll reassess our approach to ensure a balanced evaluation. Additionally, we want every interview to be a constructive and professional discussion, so we take your concerns seriously and will reflect on how we structure our questions and candidate interactions. We appreciate the time and effort you invested in the process and wish you all the best in your next opportunity. Appinio’s People Team

      Interview

Many redflags: the manager told me the company's living a chaotic moment (which is not appealing when you want to join the company), she arrived lat during our meetings and the HR or her were sending me late night emails (9/10pm) to inform me about the next steps of the recruitment process. Advice: even if you have a lot of work, don't send red flags to candidates.

Hey there, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that your interview process raised red flags. That is not the experience we want to create for candidates, and we take this feedback seriously. Arriving late to interviews and communicating at inappropriate times does not reflect the standards we aim to uphold, and we acknowledge that we missed the mark here. Your comments have been shared internally so we can address this directly and improve how we show up for candidates, especially during busy phases. We appreciate you calling this out openly, as it helps us reflect and do better. We wish you all the best in your future opportunities and thank you again for your honesty. Appinio's People Team
