I applied online. I interviewed at Almanac in Mar 2020
Interview
Applied online, got invited to a screening and technical interview with Dan.
Got invited to meet Adam, the CEO.
Both meetings were a pleasure. Especially Dan is a really nice guy and I never felt rushed or the interview felt one-sided. I could ask my (arguably somewhat unpleasant) questions and Dan/Adam answered them truthfully.
The technical interview consisted of showing some of my own code, as well as some general and some rather specific questions about JS and Ruby.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
* What does this code do in JS?
* What does this code do in Ruby?
* Can you walk us through some of your own code - it doesn't have to be perfect.

Interview
My experience was unpleasant, everyone I talked to seemed very uninterested in the conversation, there was even some chatting in the background while I was answering questions. The recruiter was the only one that seemed professional.
Hi there - I'm sorry to hear that this was your experience leaving an Almanac interview! We strive to provide an efficient, transparent interview experience that respects you and your time. In this instance, it sounds like we fell short of that goal. Please know that we take your feedback seriously, and we'll look to improve in this area. Best of luck in your search. - Adam
First met with Dan, who was pretty nice and impressed me by moving the process pretty quickly.
Then met with Adam, who seemed cold and uninterested and just reading questions off a list.
I gave them a date by which I needed a response. They said OK. And then if you read the other posts here, I think you already know what happened.. These pair of wet wipes ghosted me.
Very unprofessional, especially considering how stressful it can be for a candidate in terms of impact on his/her life.
Hi there - I'd like to address your comments and, first and foremost, apologize for the experience. We understand that not receiving a response from us is disrespectful of your time and energy spent interviewing here. We can do better - and commit to responding back to 100% of those who engage with us in a live interview. It sounds like I came across as being uninterested in our conversation; that was certainly not my intention! We try to ask a consistent set of questions to ensure fit with our virtues and try our best to not lead people on one way or another with our reactions. Please know that I hear and respect your feedback as I am always looking for ways to get better. Warmly, Adam

Interview
Overall the interview process was pretty normal.
I met and had a chat with the CTO where we spoke about the company and myself. Shortly after there was a technical interview which was done pairing and chatting about some code instead of asking to implement random sorting algorithms or outsourcing work.
After I met with product and got a feel for how a feature lifecycle works, and then a chat with the CEO diving more into company culture and my own thoughts.
All of the meetings were only as long as they needed to be, and the whole process was handled quickly.
