      Flight Attendant Interview

      22 Jan 2013

      Dallas, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Jan 2013

      Interview

Applied online to their website. Months later and after attending other Airline interviews, I received an email to request I attend an interview in Dallas. I was asked which day I would prefer....so I told them. I was then emailed back optional dates and days. I got my first choice. A day or two later I received my flight details which required a flight on the day before. My flight back was scheduled at 5pm....meaning I wouldnt be home until late that day. I was also provided with a couple of hotels which AA/AE can give prospective employees discounts. I took the cheaper option of these two. Expect to spend 50 bucks on hotel. My hotel provided a breakfast but it was only continental, and I felt it wasnt going to sustain me enough for the day ahead. So, I got up really early....545am and jogged/walked to the nearby macdonalds with another hopeful FA. Bus picked us all up at 730am and 15 mins later - if that - we were at the AA headquarters. Then directed into the AE recruitment centre. Quick roll call, and seperation of pilots to FA, then we were handed clip boards which had our details on...and as said before we had to check the information....sign a few things, complete more details, tick a few boxes, then on the last page we got to express ourselves in an essay on dishonesty in the workforce and your experience....although I expect the question changes. We were really thirsty...(possibly because a few of us had a couple drinks the night before), and during this clip board stage there werent any water coolers - nothing....so take a water bottle with you. (take some snacks too) Eventually we were sent into another room - through the open office of AA and AE. It was here I realized how closely aligned this company is. AE appears like the easy going fun section of the large company....yet enjoying the same benefits/office/etc. We sat as a group in a room, and as a group, one by one was asked 4 questions to be answered infront of each other. Starting question was 'your name, what your doing now, and where are you from' simple but its always the hardest to make an impression with. Then we were all asked one by one to read out the FA welcome to AE airlines card. I put on the FA voice....as some others did...sort of funny. The recruiters then exited 'to compare notes'. I thought well this will be it....then they came back in and we were ushered into another room. The pilots were using this room earlier.... We were then told that one by one we will be called in to talk with these other recruiters who we hadnt met thus far...we were to take all our bags and follow them once called..... This is the time to collect each others phone numbers....you really do need to keep in contact. I was called out earlier than most, and taken to a room where I was asked some great questions. Easily answerable ones where you can paint yourself into a great light....then about 5 mins later, recruiter drew a line through some questions, deciding he didnt need to ask me further, instead he said....which base do you want? Then asked If I have any questions....then told me he is recommending me for the position and said youll fit in well.
