I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at American Airlines (Tulsa, OK) in Nov 2019
Interview
Interview was a two person panel, but was easier than I expected. I had to answer a total of 10 questions. Five questions were situational questions for HR, the others pertaining to the job and my experience.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Airlines (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jan 2023
Interview
Pretty laid back and casual. Two part interview, practical and oral portions. Practical involves demonstrating typical Aviation Maintenance hand tool skills and reading and interpreting tech data. Oral interview was interesting. Right away I was criticized by my attire. I was made to feel over dressed. I wore a button up shirt and tie. Then while answering questions one of the interviewers kept yawning. Questions were easy but they would change the question after you answer to try and trip you up. The whole interview process overall was unprofessional in my opinion. I felt I had to entertain the interviewers with stories and jokes for them to like me. I saw mechanics with 10+ active years of experience get rejected while new mechanics with little to no experience get hired. Some mechanics showed up in suits that were turned away while others showed up in hoodies or other company uniforms that got hired.
