The beginning of the process started with me submitting a simple application through Linkedin EasyApply. After that I received an email from a recruiter wondering if I would be comfortable with a phone conversation (informal interview). This conversation went really well although I got the vibe that they were only interested in the fact I would be a cheap candidate. I was very excited as we were supposed to set up a more formalized interview with the hiring manager.
They mentioned that they would be in touch to see when
the position's supervisor would be free to interview. I felt
like this was a sure guarantee for an interview and I was
disappointed when it slowly signaled to not be the case.
After constant follow up emails, I think it was safe to say I was “ghosted”. The wild part was that he CC’d his boss on the original emails he would send to be prior to the interview. So she even would receive my countless rolls up messages to her direct report. And still no accountability and communication on their end which is very disrespectful and unprofessional. I knew when I applied for the role that it was different what I had done. But your HR team still chose to reach out to me for a reason, and the fact that you can’t show the same common Courtesy to at least communicate is a major red flag for unprofessionalism.
When you choose to lead a candidate on in
the process, then fail to respond to questions and follow emails,it gives the company a bad reputation. Maybe
your recruiters should go back and get their PHR or
MSHRM/MBAs to understand what HR communications
should look like.
