      Site Reliability Engineer Interview

      21 Jun 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Anaplan (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2018

      Interview

Initial phone call with the recruiter, than phone call with the hiring manager. I was set up for another phone call with a senior engineer but it was canceled and they requested me for an onsite interview. I did interview with 3 different people from the company individually. First someone from upper management, then 2 different senior engineers. They were basically looking for hands-on experience on some certain topics. The recruiter coordinated everything very well and helped me at every stage. She even sent me luck messages in the morning of the interview and reminded me the interview. The latest sr engineer compelled my knowledge with questions from different scopes, he was a though interviewer :) but at the end he explained me my weakness and strong areas, and recommended something about how i can improve myself. I think i did good but there should be someone better than me, so that they rejected me. They also told me that it's about my weakness at Chef.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Anaplan (Ottawa, ON) in May 2025

      Interview

The interview process consisted of three rounds — two technical interviews and one focused on cultural fit. The technical rounds were well-structured, allowing me to showcase my skills while also learning more about the team and the work at Anaplan. The cultural fit interview was a great opportunity to understand Anaplan’s values and team dynamics. Special thanks to Stephanie Parker and Jason from the HR team for their excellent communication and support throughout the entire process. They made the experience smooth, transparent, and engaging from start to finish.

      Interview

The interview started off with an hour long conversation with Tracy Hoel (a fantastic recruiter!) to discuss career interest followed by a standard SRE questionnaire. Within 1-2 days, Tracy reached out with me with a video interviewer with the hiring manager. Spoke with the hiring manager via a video conference call for about an hour to discuss job details and responsibilities. After the video conference with the hiring it is followed up an onsite interview. Onsite consist of coding, linux, debugging questions followed by a brief interview with upper management. The final interview is with the director of the department.
