      Senior Front End Engineer Interview

      6 Jun 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Ancestry (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2017

      Interview

Ancestry has recently implemented a new company-wide rule that requires all employees to have a degree, even if that degree has nothing to do with the job at hand. The recruiter said they've even laid off employees who didn't have degrees. I don't have a degree, but the recruiter didn't notice that until the phone screen. Opinion: requiring that employees have *any* degree to work there is dumb.

      Question 1

      Do you have a degree?
