I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Angi (Denver, CO) in May 2021
Interview
Stay away!
Started with a great interview from HR, followed by an easy but fun take home assignment, then a wonderful interview with the hiring manager. However, the next stage was were things took a big turn for the worse. They had a 5 and a half hour long interview scheduled which I took off for.
The first interview was supposedly a pair programming interview, but the interviewer did not talk except for to lead me down a wrong path. I didn’t finish the question in time, but I had given my thought process in full detail and explained what was missing and how I would have implemented it.
The second interview scheduled was an algorithm based interview (even though the first interview was essentially an algorithm question as well, so it felt redundant and highly unnecessary for a front end position) I did struggle with this question a little, but in the end I came very close to the solution. The interviewer was struggling the entire time to understand the question and he felt very unprepared.
After an hour long break, the same guy from the second interview showed up 15 minutes pass the scheduled time that my third interview was supposed to begin. He told me that they always decided they were not moving forward with me and that the interview was over. I was last rather speechless as the first interview had gone fine, and was even reassured that by the two interviewers. But then the second guy told me that they felt code was confusing and didn’t make sense after I they themselves led me down a confusing rabbit hole I otherwise would not have taken. And the second interview I didn’t solve the algorithm ( even though the interviewer was confused the whole time as well to the question)
Overall the whole process left a very sour taste in my mouth and I do not understand why they would waste my time if they were so unprepared. Also rework your
interview process, the part I got to experience was redundant and tested nothing related to front end development.
Ultimately I took off work to have them not respect that fact and waste my time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me to review my code and also about time and space complexity.
The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Angi (New York, NY)
Interview
They sent a 3 hour programming test via Hackerrank with one week to finish. If they do not like your results they will send you a very rude email saying that your programming skills aren't good enough, as if your time was not valuable.
We appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback. We have designed our interview process so that we are able to fairly and efficiently assess a candidate's skills relative to the job we are recruiting for. We strive for a positive candidate experience and are sorry to hear that this was not your experience.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Angi (Golden, CO) in Mar 2018
Interview
I applied in March 2018 for this position. I spoke to one of their tech recruiters, who, after a brief phone screen, gave me an online hackerrank test to complete. I did OK on it (not great), but anyways, I saw he had called a few days later. Within an hour of seeing I'd missed his unscheduled, unannounced call, I called back (no answer) and left a voicemail stating I was sorry I'd missed his call, and let me know I was happy to speak further. I also emailed him saying I'd left a voicemail. I didn't hear back from him again except until a week later, where I had missed a second unscheduled, unannounced call of his. Argh! I did the same thing: called back, left a voicemail, left an email. After that - NOTHING. I must've followed up about 8 times over the next 6 weeks through a combination of voicemails and emails, but I never heard back from him. Is this how HomeAdvisor does their hiring process? I don't get it. I wouldn't have missed a call if he'd just communicated with me and scheduled it. I just happened to not be by my phone those two times, but called back within an hour. Ugh. I don't get this place.
