Scheduled for 30 minutes | Arrived on time, greeting by the associate waiting in line for their "up" | Awkward. I was told to sit on a couch, but I did not. | 10 minutes later I am greeted with a clipboard with an application to fill out | Terrible experience so far - the written document was like filling out paperwork at the doctor's office.

Question 1
20 minutes into my 30 minute interview a manager finally sat down and asked those typical behavioral interview questions, which I could tell he was very uncomfortable with. This questions took about 25 minutes.
One question was "tell me about a time you influenced a bad decision, and turned things around?"
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Ashley Furniture Homestore (Modesto, CA) in Apr 2025
Interview
Very lax and informal first interview. The store manager described himself as a “funny jerk” and someone who likes to be “left alone” to have others do their own jobs. Monopolized the entire conversation even though he told me, “tell me about yourself” but I wasn’t able to get more than 5 sentences out for the entirety of the 35-45min. conversation.
Told me he was recruited for the store manager position while working for a different company and had no previous experience working for Ashley Home Furniture beforehand.

“Do you have a smartphone? Do you like TikTok? Well because that’s mostly what you’ll be doing because during the weekdays it’s dead in here.”
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Ashley Furniture Homestore (Brampton, ON)
Interview
My first interview was a phone interview, for which i received a confirmation mail with time and google calendar attachment as well; But on the time mentioned, the Interviewer did not call. I even tried to reach out on the mentioned mail but no reply there. If they hired someone else they should at least inform to candidates who have scheduled interview.
