I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Backbase (Cardiff, Wales) in Oct 2021
Interview
Well organised multi step process. Screening interview, followed by a technical coding task aimed at showcasing your skills; this was a reasonable task but could eat up some time if you wanted to improve your solution with background reading. Technical interviews normally use the tech task as a basis (although I forewent this due to a number of circumstances). The final, non-technical interview was a last chance to ask questions about culture and for them to assess readiness to move

Question 1
[non-tech interview] Expectations of company culture and readiness to accept an offer.
I applied online. I interviewed at Backbase (Amsterdam) in May 2025
Interview
Even the interview is a nightmare. They require you to do homework, with a full page of description what they expect from you, and they are unable to send the input file at the first place. They do not share the criteria, but after they reject on like typos and even thing which are not valid.
They are focused what you do not know, and not interested at all what you know.

Question 1
Homework: create an API to rate restaurants, get back the top rated ones, query data from another API.
I found the interviewers somewhat disrespectful. While I was trying to clearly explain the system and the technical background, they seemed distracted—typing and not really listening. Later, they asked questions I had already answered, which made the whole experience feel dismissive.
It wasn’t a great interaction, and frankly, I don’t think I’d be comfortable working with people who approach conversations like that.

Question 1
They don't have any technical knowledge-- that's why they couldn't ask. Actually they have no idea to do it.
