I applied online and received an email a month later from HR asking if I'd like to do a phone interview which I agreed to. Everything seemed to be going pretty well; the HR representative seemed kind and lighthearted, typical interview questions, felt more like a conversation than an interview. Then we finally get to the big question: why are you looking to leave your current company? I explained to her that I didn't really enjoy working in the toxic environment that I was currently in. It made it difficult to really enjoy my creative work when everything was based on fear. The HR rep decides to put her two cents on "difficult" work environments: she confesses that she has been lucky enough to have never experienced a "bad" work environment and that LLC treats its employees like family. She then goes on to lecture me on how I should remain at my current job, toxic work environment and all, and REALLY take it all in and experience it. That it would be good for me. I am sorry lady but until you've experienced a manger, a grown adult, who literally bullies you on the daily, do not lecture me about "experience" when my mental well-being is on the line. Completely offensive.
