Pros:
Calm Inc. has a great mission as the #1 app for sleep and meditation. It’s clear they care about well-being, and the remote work opportunity is a plus.
The job description and company values seemed appealing, and the role itself had potential.
Cons:
Rushed Hiring Process with Lengthy Questionnaire
The hiring process felt inconsistent with the company’s mission. Instead of a phone screening or video call, candidates are given a very long and detailed questionnaire with a tight deadline to respond.
There were 22 in-depth questions that required extensive answers, but the timeline allowed less than two days to complete. It felt rushed, which is ironic for a company focused on reducing stress and anxiety.
This approach may discourage well-qualified candidates who want to provide thoughtful, comprehensive answers but don't have time to rush through it.
Advice to Management:
Consider restructuring the hiring process to align more with the company’s core values of reducing stress. Either shorten the questionnaire or extend the timeframe so candidates can present their skills effectively. A more relaxed approach would attract better talent and reflect Calm’s mission more accurately.
