I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Citi (New York, NY) in Aug 2012
Interview
Initially I applied on the Citibank website to a post for Tellers. I proceeded to complete the online exam that they had for Tellers and passed it (Of course). After a few weeks had passed with no reply, I decided to be proactive and travel to the branches in my neighborhood in person and hand in my resume. Each branch I went to, I was able to speak with the hiring manger, who never heard of the online job posting. Nevertheless, it was because I went around in person that I was able to interview.
After the interview, I had to take a drug test and get fingerprinted.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Citi

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Citi (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2014
Interview
First, the candidate needs to apply online and fill out a survey/questionnaire. Once that is completed, they wait for a recruiter to contact them. The interview with the recruiter includes questions about salary, work experience, and character. Once through that, the branch brings you in for an interview. I only had one interview and had to wait roughly three weeks to know that I got the job.
