cleared the technical round prior to this interview, and this stage was scheduled with both the Director and the Manager of the Application Support team. The Director asked a few relevant questions related to the role but had to leave the interview after approximately 20 minutes due to another commitment. The interview then continued solely with the Manager for the remainder of the session.
During the interview, several questions felt unrelated to the role and its responsibilities. I was asked about my family background, including whether I have siblings, which did not seem relevant in a technical interview context. There were also questions around long-term personal commitments, such as whether I could guarantee staying with the company for five years or more, based on the tenure of existing employees. While company loyalty was emphasized, there was no discussion around how the organization supports long-term stability from the employee’s perspective, especially in terms of job security.
Additionally, I was asked whether I would be willing to relocate to another province if required, despite the role being advertised as Toronto-based. Questions were also raised about my immigration plans and whether I intend to take Canadian citizenship in the future, which felt unrelated to the job requirements and the scope of the interview.
Overall, while some role-related questions were relevant, the interview experience raised concerns around focus, consistency, and the appropriateness of certain topics discussed during a professional hiring process.
