      Interview

I interviewed for a EMEA based Sr. HRBP role and the first red flag was when the US recruiter, trying to talk about how good it was to work there, said that employees usually took 18 days of vacation, when in Europe the average vacation by law is usually 24-28 days, even more in some countries. Also, it seemed like a requirement for this job was the ability to handle stress, to be very flexible, adaptable and fast-paced, as the company made decisions very quickly and required all of its employees to follow this (workaholic) pace. When I got to the stage to talk with peers from the team it was a disaster, they were rude and made me feel uncomfortable asking me how I handle working under pressure, with tight deadlines and how I would react working with a "difficult" leader. It was easy to recognize that they were fatigued and yet they seemed to brag about it, as if this should be acceptable. To me, these were all indications of an unhealthy organization, and to be very honest, I felt relieved when after this step I received the rejection email. I know many people have lost their jobs recently and need to work desesperately, but please be intentional about the employer you want to have. The recruiting process tells a lot about the company's culture.

Hi there - thank you for your feedback on our interview process. We prioritize candidate experience, and I am sorry to hear that yours felt negative in any way. We will make sure our recruiters know about the statutory requirements for the countries of the candidates they are talking about in the future; the person you spoke to was likely referencing our overall and general company policy. Also, we do not condone rudeness of any sort, externally or internally, and this will be appropriately flagged with our interview panel. As I am sure you know, the HRBP role can be challenging as HRBPs connect leaders'/team members' needs and business priorities. HRBPs work on impactful, high-touch projects in response to challenges from their business units and partner closely with leaders of varying experience, bandwidth, knowledge, and leadership skills. This can sometimes be difficult, and candidates who will be successful at Deel must be up for these challenges, want to work hard to build and solve problems and be proactive and thoughtful in their approach. Part of the HRBP's role is to coach, mentor and guide leaders and act as advising partners to help them grow and develop. We are committed to building a high-performance culture and look to our team members to set the bar high for delivering and executing at speed for our internal clients and customers. I appreciate your feedback and will make sure it's been shared with all stakeholders in our interview process.

      Interview

It was a long interview process, 8 separate interviews up until withdrawing due to another offer. There was still at least another interview to go, while it is great meeting lots of people, it is a bit long and drawn out.
