I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Deloitte (Cape Town) in Apr 2013
Interview
The interview process is quite in depth.
Firstly, all interviewees are split up into groups of about 8 people. An essay topic is then given to each group and individuals are given 20 minutes to write a page about the subject.
A group debate is then is held relating to the subject.
After that, all interviewees are split into teams of 2 where they are given a new topic and then need to debate against one another in a panel about the subject.
Finally, a one on one interview is held with either a partner or senior manager.
Throughout the interview process Deloitte employees are available to chat to in between the different processes which can provide nice insight into the business.
Although the process is tough it is done in a nurturing environment.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The subject of our essay and debate was whether big corporates should invest more money in their community.
One on one interview questions included personal questions designed to gauge personality as well as a few questions relating to new IFRS standards.
It was an on campus placement interview, they mostly asked about my CV and personal achievements. Some questions were regarding basics of accounting like principles of accounting and treatment of depreciation and other items in all 3 statements.

Question 1
about my prior internship experience and how i developed myself through it.
5 rounds of interview - 1 HR, 2 technical, 1 Versant (english understanding and communication) & 1 Partner. Partner round can be technical or general depending upon your partner. Questions can range from "why audit" to core accounting and auditing questions
the interview was very conversational. entry level position is not technical at all but you should bring in experience anyways. didn’t get the position but interviewers seemed very laid back and were probably taking the interview from their phone
