      Pre-Sales Engineer Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Denodo in Feb 2018

      Interview

Two interviews over the phone, one recruiter and one hiring manager/influencer. Both went very well and was promised a third with a group of people. I followed up to schedule a date/time very quickly because I really only needed a day to setup their software and put together my demo script. I never heard back. I’m suppose I could continue to badger them but then again if they can’t return my messages that already says a lot.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Denodo

      Interview

I responded to a job opening I found on their web site and received an email from HR soon after to schedule an interview. I did not receive a call at the scheduled time as agreed so after waiting 15 minutes I contacted Denodo asking for the interviewer by name and was told immediately that he/she was not available. When I explained the situation, the person who answered the phone asked me to hold and came back a minute later saying I would receive an email. A little later the interviewer sent an email explaining that due to an event that occurred the previous day, the interview would need to be rescheduled. My impression is that the interviewer forgot about the meeting. A couple of days later the interview went ahead. It was high level. I was asked to discuss my background, technical and sales experience and why I was interested in Denodo. The interviewer was very friendly and easy to speak to. At the end of the interview I was told that the hiring manager would contact me the next day. A week went by and I did not hear from the hiring manager. I contacted HR to follow up and I was told the sit tight, I would be contacted. After another week I was finally contacted and an interview was scheduled with the hiring manager. The interview with the hiring manager wasn't too different than the process with HR although it went into a little more detail. I was asked to give more examples of sales experience. There was no role playing or scenarios to work through. Although the role was Pre Sales Engineer, the hiring manager was not too interested in my technical skills, more sales. I suppose the technical part would have been covered in a different interview, which makes sense. The interviewer was very friendly and, I felt, transparent. The interviewer told me at the end of the interview that he/she would give positive feedback to HR and I would hear back about the next step. I never heard back. Over the course of the next month, I sent multiple emails to the original interviewer in HR asking for an update. They went completely unanswered. I did contact the hiring manager who said the process was in the hands of HR and I should speak to them. The hiring manager did not know what the next step was. I tried calling Denodo and when asking to speak to the original interviewer once again was told instantaneously that he/she was not available. When I asked if I could leave a message I was told, "No, you can't leave a message. Send an email." What?! So my impression of Denodo is very unfavourable. Although the people I spoke to were friendly, it's apparent to me that the company is disorganized and has no standard hiring process. HR is not considerate enough to send a quick email responding to a simple question even after I had two interviews with positive feedback. I'm giving an unfavourable rating because the company didn't have the decency to respond ever again after two positive interviews. Candidates are adults and can accept rejection or even a response indicating that the process is on hold. But to completely ignore several emails is simply unprofessional.
