I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Duke University (Durham, NC) in Aug 2016
Interview
The interview process was conducted by the professor whom I am working with right now. Overall, the process was nice and smooth. Most the questions I was asked during the interview process were behavior questions. And also, I gave a presentation in front of all the group members of the group I was applying for. They were all friendly and asked some technical questions about my previous research projects.

Pretty casual and straightforward. Welcoming faculties and staffs. The interview is more like a confirmation once the decision is made by the hiring personnel. Just providing a data point here.

The interview was held face to face. It only takes 5 minutes long to let the PI decide to take me. No hard challenges were met. Overall, it was a professional and happy process.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Duke University (Durham, NC) in Oct 2017
Interview
Casual, as I knew the Principal Investigator. We spoke once about the position, and I accepted the offer. I learned more about the position and the opportunity arose when the PI's funding came through, albeit a little bit into the fall semester. I met the primary administrator and other staff during the process. All were welcoming individuals who gave me the opportunity to ask questions.
