      Energy Analyst Interview

      1 Feb 2018

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ENGIE (London, England) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Shortly after I submitted the application I received an email outlining that I had to analyse a raw data set of energy data and email my results. If successful I would get an invitation to an interview. I did the analysis and got the invitation. The two interviewers were very professional in conducting the interview. Initially we discussed my results from the data analysis and talked about possible measures of energy efficiency. The interview progressed further to discussing my background regarding my knowledge of programming skills. At this point I realised that the job description was not explaining the whole job properly as it seemed they were looking for someone understanding energy efficiency measures as opposed to someone with quite elaborate programming skills. I realised that the scope of the Energy Analyst position was by far more elaborate than the job description showed, specifically at the level of an analyst. The requirements were in my opinion more fitting for a consultant position. At the end I had to answer standard interview questions and I got the chance to ask questions myself as well. All in all a good experience, but the expectations of the company for the position did not transpire in the job description clearly and exceeded the requirements for an analyst role.
