The interview is catered around their timeline because they’re in France. I was in the Western region of the United States and had to wake up very early in the morning for interview, but it's ok since this shows flexibility. The technical part of the interview was good and overall was fine.
Now to second part of the interview phase which gave me a negative overall experience with this company. They asked for a scripting exercise which includes you creating a script in “any language” you want to call out to their sandbox system via RestAPI and incorporate the data within the script to be exported out to csv. They give you very vague work information they’re looking for in your script like “list of ip addresses and subnets” from the sandbox system. I completed this task successfully and on time but got ghosted after this for about a week. Until today I receive a call from recruiter who said that their response was my python ability was not up to par with what they're looking for. Mind you in the interview process, I mentioned I have scripting ability but very basic knowledge of python which was true but was able to deliver the data they needed in their exercise.
In closing, if you're looking for a developer mention it on your job post and don't waste peoples time especially with a scripting exercise when it's not "up to par" with what you think a script should look like. The job posting was for Professional Services Engineer not a Developer.
