I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Eli Lilly and Company in Jan 2011
Interview
I applied for a limited duration position online and received an email requesting a phone interview within 5 days of my application. The phone interview consisted of 4-5 situational questions, a description of the position, salary expectations, and review of my undergraduate GPA. The woman interviewing was very pleasant.
A few hours after the phone interview, I received an email with an application packet and request for transcripts. About one day after faxing in the transcripts, I received an invitation for a face-to-face interview which is scheduled for next week.
I completed the panel interview and it was as difficult as expected. I really prepared with my research and planning for answers using the STAR format but they were still able to surprise me with some questions that I didn't expect. Even though the position is entry level and does not require sales experience, many of the questions revolved around past sales experience and customer service. They asked a few questions about what I knew about the job description of a rep and the challenges I've face in the past regarding making sales. They also asked why I chose Lily. The interviewers were very friendly and laid back and it was the first interview where I felt like it was more of a conversation than an interview. It was hard to get a read on what they were thinking. I did attempt to "close" but they insisted that they can't make any commitments until they've interviewed all the candidates for the position. They said I would know the outcome in 5-7 days. Honestly, I feel like the competition is tough right now and I'm not getting my hopes up since I have minimal sales experience.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Eli Lilly and Company (Raleigh, NC) in Feb 2025
Interview
This was one of the hardest interview processes I have ever gone through. There are many rounds to the interview, and they use the “STAR” process (you can look this up). If you are interviewing for this company, it’s imperative to study this process so you know how to answer questions correctly. I made it through to the final round of interviews (it was between myself and one other person). In the end, they went with someone more familiar with the territory.
