      Product Manager Interview

      7 Jul 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at EnergyHub in May 2023

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at EnergyHub (New York, NY) in Apr 2021

      Interview

Someone from HR reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in the position, followed up by a 30 minutes phone call. One week after that was an interview with one of the VPs. Then nothing for a month. Finally they came back with a take home assessment which I completed and returned but never received any feedback on. It's been 7 week since HR has responded to any of my email. I find it highly unprofessional and disrespectful to have a candidate to take the time to do an assessment and then not respond to emails after that. If a company doesn't respect a candidates time they definitely will not respect their employees time. Would not recommend.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What makes a good product manager?
      Answer question
      6

      Interview

Content was very manageable but the duration between the 6 rounds was long. The recruiter was very helpful. (Round 1) Screener with the recruiter (Round 2) 30 mins with the hiring manager (Round 3) Create and submit a presentation in 3 days [how would you create a roadmap for a described, hypothetical company] (Round 4) Present to a 5-person panel over 45 minutes (Round 5) Multiple interviews in one day: [45 min with 2 product managers on product sense, 30 min with an engineering manager and technical writer on UX, 30 minutes with an engineering manager on technical approach, 45 with customer success and implementation manager] (Round 5a: I had to repeat the technical interview because they accidentally scheduled the first one with the incorrect engineering manager. (Round 6) 30 minutes with head of product and 30 minutes with hiring manager (both ostensibly for me to ask questions but I still felt evaluated).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Fairly standard. How would you handle demands from very big clients? How do you handle tech debt? Should roadmaps be public? How would you work with product marketing during product discovery? When has a stakeholder convinced you to go in a particular direction? Tell me about a time you had to prioritize. What's an interesting project you worked on?
