      Administrative Interview

      19 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Redlands, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Esri (Redlands, CA) in Jan 2023

      Interview

It was a good experience until the end when it got weird. Four rounds of interviews over several weeks with different departments. Last one was half a day long with different sets of people, and I took time off from my current job. Interviews seemed to go well, everyone seemed good to work with, and it felt like a great fit, and I was qualified. I was excited and let them know after every round I was still interested. Then HR said they’d contact me with an update, which ended up being a request for a time to do a “followup” call. We set it up, but then I got another email saying hey can we postpone that followup call another week? I thought—oh well, must be a rejection but they’re going to at least tell me why or give me some feedback. But nothing. They were very evasive and vague. I didn’t ask any point-blank questions about why, and I should have. Salary had been discussed in the screening interview, so that wasn’t it. I searched LinkedIn for anyone with that job title and didn’t come up with anything, so maybe they canceled the position altogether. But why not just tell me that.

      Interview

They have three rounds of interviews- Aptitude, Technical, and HR. The process is very methodical and perfect. The aptitude test had two parts, picture-based questions, and GIS-based questions. After clearing the rounds HR and Technical rounds will take place.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Esri

      Interview

Don't bother applying directly to their website for a position in Redlands. They are inundated with so many resumes, they could never possibly get through them. You'll get lost in the crowd. Instead make your way over to a particular staffing agency in town (S.....). Initial interview, loads of testing to prove you're qualified, many interviews with various managers, etc. and then if you pass those, you go to "Corporate". If you can sum up everything meaningful you've done since high school and you don't wear anything scented, you might just make it to badge picture day. Salary negotiation is pointless since administrative staff are considered overhead and don't really make money for the company.

      Question 1

Standard questions. Nothing out of the norm, except when you get to "Corporate".
