      Interview

The interview process was pretty long compared to other interviews I've had. 2 hour interview with the development team, then a 1 hour exam. The interviewers seemed like nice people, they were very interested in what kind of person I was. "What makes you happy", "What drives you", "What are you trying to get out of a job", "What are some valuable things you have learned", "weaknesses", "strengths", etc... The interviewers attended the same university as myself, and were very interested in who my instructors were and how the classes went. They went through all my transcripts and had me explain what happened in the classes where I got below a B. I would say the interview was 40% technical, 60% personal/experience, and the exam at the end is on basic computer science topics, "What is a pointer", "Write code that sorts this list...", etc... I was then invited back for a second interview to meet with (who I think is) the head of the development team. He seemed like a decent guy, polite, nice, interested in what I had to say, we talked about myself and past experiences, and my background, not anything technical. It lasted about 30 mins, then I was give another exam, which was a lot more in-depth and C# specific. They told me that if they wanted to move forward there would be one last interview (for a total of 3), and that I would hear back from them within a few weeks, however I was not invited back for the 3rd interview. In fact, I never actually heard back from them after the 2nd interview. I was hoping to at least hear from them if they had decided to go with another candidate, but that did not happen. I wasn't given a tour or anything, so I can't speak for the type of work environment they have there, but it seemed like they are a smaller company, and are pretty cautions on who they add to their team. Looking back, it seemed like they were really looking for someone who has a passion to work in their type of culture, and who would fit in well with the team on a personal level, which is probably where I fell short. I applied right out of college, and was really just looking for any software engineering job at that point. So in conclusion, the people there seemed nice, and they seemed very passionate about the company/culture they have there. Would I have accepted an offer from them? Probably. Was I given an offer. No. The only vibe I really got about the work environment there was that it seemed kind of "dull". I didn't see the whole building, but from what I did see, it was just your average building, average interior office set up, plain white walls, everyone I saw there was 30+ years of age. If anything, I got decent interview experience from it all.
