The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Flytedesk (Boulder, CO) in Jan 2019
Interview
In phone screens went well. Was asked to take a coding challenge and only spend 2-4 hours on it. During the code challenge ran into many issues with the REST API they asked me to use, from CORS issues to 500's to bad implementation -"try and include a forward slash and an id in his URI for his PUT method". I spent a large amount of the time debugging their api issues and lost a lot of time towards the goal of the project. Spending more than 7 hours on their "2-4" hour project I was still able to deliver something missing about half their specs, but was called out for "not putting in enough time and making excuses" .
They didn't seem to have ever tested their api, which probably helps explains why they have an unrealistic time expectation of delivering a full web app, from mocks, with unit testing.
Follow up communication through recruiter:
... So in conclusion you do have the right to keep that post up, but just know I don't believe it does you any good in the long run. I would gratefully appreciate it if you took it down.
