      Technical Product Owner Interview

      29 Apr 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fresh Consulting in Apr 2025

      Interview

Recruiter was difficult to understand. Even without an accent, they were not very candidate friendly. Hiring manager focused too much on hardware — despite all of the projects on their website being a combination of hardware and software. Was asked the same question in 5 different ways — “What is your hardware experience?”. The deep focus on hardware meant a very strong bias towards mechanical engineers. So basically people who act and think like themselves. Did not feel like they were honestly trying to expand their boundaries or find diverse viewpoints. Furthermore, they wanted a person who is a good strategic thinker (product manager), but were only willing to hire a “product owner” which is a more junior title and a more junior pay. It felt like they were lowballing.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What is your hardware experience? Describe your last hardware project. Do you have hardware projects in your portfolio? That’s nice, but tell me about the hardware component. Hardware hardware HARDWARE.
