I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Funding Circle (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
Fairly straightforward interview process and, in general, had a good time meeting with everyone. I do understand the overwhelming negative reviews for the interview process though after having completed interviews at several other companies recently - the way the San Francisco team is run is miles behind other tech companies in the Bay Area right now.
I had a phone screen followed by a day of onsite interviews (met with 7 people). The interviews seemed to go well, had to prepare an outside assignment for the team, and then was told that I didn't have the right experience necessary for the role - something that never came up during the interview process. If this was the true feedback, this is something we could have sussed out far earlier in the process rather than waste everyone's time (note: I ended up being hired into a VP of Global Talent at a rival company after this interview, so not sure how I didn't have experience to oversee a smaller team).
I wish Funding Circle the best of luck - they're trying to "hire the top people in the world" (as everyone told me) into a organization that doesn't have those people yet for quite low salaries (this was brought up several times by several different interviews) into a space that's dominated by companies with much more impressive technology. That said, I *was* still excited by several of the people I met; just unimpressed with how the company itself is being run, though I suspect the SF team doesn't have much say in that just yet.

I interviewed at Funding Circle (London, England) in Jan 2021
Interview
The process was standard. First call with lead recruiter in tech and second and final call with head of talent acquisition and tech sourcer.
In both interviews they asked almost similar questions. They were only interested to know what are my sourcing methodology/ channels I used. How do I source diverse candidates (for them diverse is only female) in engineering field. We also talked about how candidate experience is important and there is so much competition to get a good talent for the team.
Overall I had decent conversation with everyone. The irony is after following up twice I have still not received my interview feedback. For a moment I felt they are very serious about making hiring process better and taking diversity seriously, I guess they also run in the same rat race not caring about candidate. Not cool funding circle not cool at all.

Thank you for taking the time out to write a review on your interview experience with Funding Circle.
We are really disappointed to hear you have had a negative interview experience with us. We strive to continuously improve our hiring process where possible and give our candidates the best experience we can - just like we would do for our customers.
This certainly is not the normal Funding Circle experience candidates go through and we will feed this back to the team to make sure we take your feedback on board. We hope this does not put you of looking at our career opportunities in the future.
All the best in your searches.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Funding Circle (San Francisco, CA) in May 2015
Interview
Oh man, where do I start, what an insanely intelligent and accommodating team. I have many good things to say about the mission of the company but the people I met was really the true selling point. Had a screen with HR and shortly after was invited on-site for a 4 hour interview. Very focused interview team, little redundancy.
