I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at G-Research in Oct 2022
Interview
The recruiter contacted me to apply. After the application, there was an online assessment. After passing the assessment there is a triage interview, followed by 3-4 more interviews with current quant researchers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A sample quant test can be found on their website. In my opinion, the sample test was more difficult than the actual test. It covered basic statistics, probability and algorithm topics from a typical undergraduate degree in statistics. After passing the test, there is a triage interview with a real quant. This interview was more challenging than the online assessment, comparable to the sample quant exam.
Test (20 question for 90 minutes if I recall correctly), then three rounds of interviews. Got rejected after the second round (which alone consisted of 3 interwiews).
I believe third round would have been on site.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mostly questions on statistics. No advanced knowledge is required but you have to be able to use the basics very well and apply them to 'quant type' problems.
Some very random questions as well, e.g. what happened to oil price in 2020 april (went negative) and explain why
I applied online. I interviewed at G-Research (London, England)
Interview
starts with cv screen and then get sent OA. If you do well enough you will have three virtual interviews afterwards and then finally an assessment centre to seal the deal
Everyone was very nice. They expect quick answers to questions and that you do not need much help. First round OA, second quantitative interview. They ask a lot about machine learning and computing
