I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gong in Oct 2022
Interview
The sales development vp reached out to me to apply for the position. I did and then the recruiter reached out to me to learn more. The recruiter was great throughout the entire process. From there I was supposed to speak with the vp who originally reached out to me. However they changed it to someone else last minute (the day before). I was prepped to talk about my leadership and how I would be able to enable my team, you know standard SDR management stuff. The new person that I was scheduled to speak with was not prepared at all for the conversation. He was almost 10 minutes late and when he jumped on he told me he was on a 3 week vacation and I was essentially the first person to speak with him since he got back. He then asked me TWO questions about hiring and that’s it. No questions on my management style, on how to handle situations that may arise as a manager, nothing about what I was told from the recruiter that we would talk about. The interview lasted 20 minutes. A week later I was told via email that Gong was going to move forward with other applicants that were “more suitable for the position”. That’s it. I got zero feedback as to why I was passed on and when I replied back to get that feedback and to explain how negative my experience was with the person who interviewed me I finally got a response after a week that it’ll be “looked into”. That was on October 6th…
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gong (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2019
Interview
interview process began with initial phone screen from recruiter, after which I had a Zoom call with the CRO, was then brought on site to meet with panel including Director of Sales Development, Managers in the Sales Development org and some SDRs, after which I had an interview with Amit, CEO.
Overall they were very transparent in terms of what was expected from me and what their reservations were which was greatly appreciated. One area of improvement for the team would have been communication internally on to solidify the interview panel to make the candidate journey a bit more seamless, but overall it was a great experience!

Question 1
What's your management philosophy? / How do you think about structuring your day/week?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gong (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2019
Interview
The interview process was simple and included a few parts. First was a phone screen with an internal recruiter. This call took about 10 minutes and included 3-5 questions about my background and why I was interested in working at Gong.
Next was a 30-minute zoom meeting with the CRO. This was a very open discussion ranging from my relevant experience to the needs and current state of the team. At the conclusion of the meeting, I was invited to come to the office for an in-person interview.
The in-person interview was great. I was emailed directions to the office and was greeted upon entering. My interviewer, the Inside Sales Manager, provided a short tour before we settled into a medium sized conference room. We spent the majority of the time candidly "talking shop" about sales processes and getting an understanding of what each other valued. Every question I asked was answered thoughtfully and usually led to more discussion. I actually felt bad because we went over the allotted time.
The final steps consisted of two more Zoom meetings. I spoke at length with the CRO, this time focusing more on the finer details of the role, coaching and recruiting sales people and getting an understanding for each others management style. Lastly was a call with the CEO. He asked questions about my experience, motivations and ideas for how to be successful in the role. At the conclusion he assured me they'd be in touch within a couple of days.
The next day the recruiter let me know they were doing a reference check and 2 days later the CRO called me with an offer.
Overall, it was a professional interview process. I was in consistent communication with the recruiter and she kept me updated as necessary each step of the way.
Seeing that we only have one current SDR Manager, I have a strong idea of who you might be!
We're sooooo excited you joined the team and can't wait to watch you build it out with your own voice and vision! You're already crushing it and I don't mean just with your ping pong skills!
And, I promise to only schedule your interviews during the allotted times moving forward... (most of the time anyhow!).
