Applied online. Contacted by the Hr through email after 15 days to schedule a phone interview.
There were two 1 hour phone interviews primarily discussing my resume, experience and my interests. Nothing technical. Interviewers were extremely nice and friendly.
I din't hear anything for a couple of days. So, I emailed the HR about the status/feedback. No response. Since, the jobvite status was still in process and I was confident about clearing the phone interviews, I emailed the HR again later that week. And, I finally heard back from her saying that I was invited onsite for the next rounds of interviews. I was asked my available dates.
I responded immediately with my availability but it took over a couple of weeks to schedule an onsite interview! The HR wasn't responsive as I wished she was. But, she was apologetic about it which was nice.
All this din't hinder my expectations since I've always wanted to work for a reputed firm like Groupon. I was nervous during the onsite rounds. The 2nd interviewer came in with a sheet of SQL queries to be solved(copied straight from Google :) ). I couldn't nail it being nervous but on a regular day I would! And I guess the feedback from the 2nd interviewer was passed on to the other 3 interviewers which made them rather uninterested in the process. By the end of it, I knew that I din't make it. Again it took me a lot of emails and follow-up to receive an official rejection email from the HR.
But, Groupon was a great experience. It helped me prepare better for interviews. Because of which I cracked interviews confidently! :)
