      Application

      I applied online. I interviewed at H E B in Feb 2026

      Interview

Interviewed at the store I currently work at. Applied because I would have shifts that are scheduled around the same time period, and want to grow with company. Have previous experience stocking, working freight, unloading trucks, and meeting deadlines for scheduled work. Interviewer skipped standard questions, I'd had in previous interviews with company. Asked why I'm interested in position, what makes me a good fit for department. Answered I why I was interested in the overnight position and discussed my previous job experience. Stated I could meet the requirements of the job. Said I had assisted in doing job tasks at previous employer and stated what I had done at HEB. Had conversation about work and what I will be required to do. Discussed experience in what I knew about overnight stocking. Stated again I had done stocking before. Interviewer said I had not done overnight stocking. The requirements for scheduled tasks are tighter and have to be met. That its different at HEB and how the work flow is delegated and what tasks have to be done. Stated he heard many of my answers before and sometimes people don't show up for the first day of work, or don't even call in. That people just quit. His experience and the other management have had obstacles. You can't just state how your body is feeling, No matter if you are tired or feeling off, work has to be done. They give hours to the people that come through. And many other things were stated in a raised voice. Interview went off from there where I knew I was not being considered a good hire for the position. Didn't understand the sudden turn in the interview, it had been fine and an informative conversation till that point. Among my interviews, there seems to be a high turnover at the Wellsbranch HEB, and the stores in Pflugerville TX. Interviewer answered questions about if I was hired what did I need to learn during the next several months, and other relevant questions. Redflag behavior from more questions including 'Are you sure you can physically meet the requirements of the job? There's nothing else I need to know?' Raised voice and became more aggravated. Didn't understand why, and this was obviously not a good fit for me. Similar experience with previous employer, which was also not a good fit for me in some departments. Asked about next steps, and we finished the interview. Decided to withdraw application. It's not going to be a good fit for me, so it's a hard no.
