      EO Asylum Decision Maker Interview

      Anonymous employee
      Stoke-on-Trent, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Home Office (Stoke-on-Trent, England) in May 2023

      Interview

I applied for the home office in January 2023. I had to play a few games in the first stage and after passing that, I got invited to do a video sift where u have to answer 6 pre-recorded questions. The questions change slightly for everyone to stop you from trying to prepare. They want to see you at your most genuine and authentic self. After passing the sift, I was then asked to take part in the assesment centre where you have to do a role play with an actor and then write an "email" explaining the knowledge you gained from the role play and what decision you would make based on the info you have. The role play is irrelevant to the job role itself, but it's so they can see how you think and how you process information to make decisions. After passing the assesment centre I have progressed onto the vetting stage. This stage takes the longest and they ask for ALOT of information to do the vetting. Make sure u can remember over 5 years worth of addresses and jobs, managers, team leaders, ex partners and current partner, all your parents details and any criminal convictions (spent and unspent) they basically ask for your entire life story from when you left school. This is to make sure you or someone you know has never been on any watch list where you could be a security risk. I am still waiting to find out if I've passed the security clearance and the counter terrorism clearance checks (this takes approx 14 days) so I should find out any day now! I have also received an email asking me to attend an online live event to meet colleagues and to find out more about the onboarding process.

      Interview

The process is very long. I applied on 05/05 and got the final decision on 01/12. If you have time, it’s worth taking a chance. The first part, which is the test, is the most interesting part. You are going to find out a lot about yourself! The second is a writing test, and the third is an online interview. All are very clearly explained.
