If you read this review go through until the end, I received and offer and ZPG took it back after stalling for weeks. Extremely unprofessional and one of the worst experiences I had in life.
I was referred by a recruiter and had a first interview with one of their leaders for the data team. They sent me a coding / architecture challenge comprised of Python, Spark and Scala. Exercise was pretty nice, I spent about two weeks working on it and sent it to them. Received a positive feedback on my solution, got approved and a 2-hour panel interview was scheduled. The team was very nice and helpful, they were genuinely interested in my background and work. I spoke with two directors and two data team leads. Everything went quite well and I received an offer.
Now, this is where things started going sideways. I spoke to both the external recruiter and their HR whom assured me everything was good and that the company that handles the visa for them would contact me in the upcoming week. I was informed that the bureaucratic process usually takes a month and that within two months I should be relocated and working for them. I started making arrangements on my side, preparing for leaving my country and moving to London.
Ten days go by and no contact, so I decided to check what was going on. The recruiter then replies saying they are "reviewing their structure due to year end's change and that they would contact me in a few days". Two weeks go by (it was around Christmas) and no contact was made, I assumed it was due to holidays. January starts and I got worried due to the silence, contacted the recruiter again which had no clue on why the delay was happening. Their HR replies that they are still reviewing their positions and structure and that he had no answers as to when they would have a response. They keep stalling for about 3 weeks and get back saying that they changed their policy and unfortunately will not sponsor visas anymore. I didn't even receive a formal apology from them, just an email forwarded from the recruiter to me explaining the situation.
Now, if you're considering going through ZPG / Zoopla's hiring process STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND THEIR LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND OTHER PEOPLE AS, DON'T RISK GETTING AN OFFER JUST TO HAVE IT TAKEN BACK!!!
