      Senior Marketing Manager Interview

      2 Mar 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Dec 2021

      Interview

The process was extremely thorough, with several touchpoints throughout. I found it to be the most challenging and most rewarding interview experience, especially given what was behind the interview door - the role itself. Through such a process, it helped ensure that the right people (skillset, culture, etc.) are considered thoroughly. While it can be daunting, I'd recommend the experience for those considering a shift.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me a time where you were faced with a variety of high-priority asks. How did you prioritize them? Describe a scenario where you needed to manage a project with multiple people on it. How did you maintain expectations? Share about something you created that had a high impact at your workplace. What was it and what did you contribute? Describe the process.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Jun 2022

      Interview

The overall process was extremely thorough and they got back to me super quickly as well! From the start, the recruiter was very transparent about the process and even gave me a prep call prior to the final interview on what I can expect, who I was going to be speaking with, etc. Everyone that I spoke with was supportive, kind, and most of all very open about the work I'll be doing as well as the type of culture HubSpot was - they really embodied HEART throughout the entire journey! I couldn't be more excited to join the HubSpot Family. :)

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Mostly behavioral type of questions: Tell me about a time you dealt with conflict, tell me how you leveraged on data to frame your recommendation, etc. It'll be good to use the STAR method on these questions.

      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot

      Interview

The interview process was pretty standard for companies this large. It was one interview with a recruiter, one interview with the hiring manager, an assignment, and then four face-to-face interviews (via Zoom). Overall, I felt the interviews were very impersonal. I felt like I was on the clock and they had to get through a set number of questions without really getting to know me. Maybe this is done on purpose to prevent any biases, but it felt more like a “test” than a conversation. Every question asked was super vague and they all started with “tell me about a time when”. I really love HubSpot, but I just didn’t feel like their interview style allowed them to learn much about me. I had the exact same interview process with a different company but they didn’t force questions like HubSpot did.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at HubSpot in Jan 2022

      Interview

The interview process was pretty straightforward forward and I enjoyed all my conversations. The call with the hiring manager was too short in my opinion. It was only 30 minutes which didn't leave much time for my questions about the role and team. Call with Recruiter, Call with Hiring Manager, Take Home Assignment, Team Interview
