Got a message from the founder/CEO on LinkedIn. Very odd (and a red flag honestly), but I decided to proceed anyway. I was in need of a job. We got a recruiter call scheduled, and the recruiter was professional and informative. She said she wanted to move me on to an interview with the hiring manager, and asked if I had any questions or anything I'd like to add. I told her that I wanted to be super clear that I had not worked in client relationship for two years now, and before moving forward wanted to make sure it would not be an issue. No issue, she said. So I agreed to move to the interview. A few days later I'm on a video interview with the hiring manager, and he seems less than excited to be doing the interview (for the first 5 seconds of him logging on to the teams video, he didn't seem to notice me) but I supposed he was just tired from conducting several already up until that point maybe. But then around 15 minutes into the interview, he got pretty combative. He asked me if I felt confident I could do the role, given the gap on my resume. When i replied in the affirmative and gave my explanation, he rejoined with something along the lines of "that's great and I hear you, but how can you be sure?" I humored him, but was pretty confused/bewildered at the question. He doubled down once more, but l was done elaborating. I consciously allowed my annoyance to be heard/seen when I asked him if there was some reason HE felt like I couldn't do the job. Its as close as I've ever come to an interview going off the rails. I decided then and there that there was no reality in which i would work for him. The interview lasted less than 10 minutes after that. It's been over a month and I haven't received any update. Good riddance. My 2 cents: If you're getting rude/unprofessional vibes or undertones from an interviewer - particularly if they are to be your boss should you sign on - do not sign on.
