Hello. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, following a recent application with us. I can confirm that a one-way video interview isn't a standard part of our recruitment process - our preference is absolutely for a two-way initial screening conversation (which is the norm for us), however at the time of your receiving your application, we had a lot of our hiring team members away on summer holidays and we felt that a one-way video interview stage was the most effective way to keep the recruitment process moving in the meantime.
Your feedback is absolutely valid in terms of rapport and the potential for people needing to be prompted and I can assure you that we factor all of these things in, when reviewing the video output. We do however find that these one-way video interviews give us a really useful flavour for an individuals' motivations, their passions, their personalities, their existing capabilities (and/or gaps in knowledge, which is also useful for us to bear in mind) and how they might communicate with us and/or our customers. All of these things we explore further in our face-to-face interviews, however the one-way video interviews do provide us with some really useful initial insights.
We are sorry that you decided to withdraw your application on this basis however we do understand that this is not for everyone. We wish you well in whatever lies ahead for you.
