I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street (London, England) in Jul 2015
Interview
Put forward by a recruiter. I faced two online assessments, performing various calculations for net asset valuations/ haircuts etc via excel.
Progressed to interview with manager of the team. Posed fairly standard interview questions, essentially trying to identify if I was a good fit for the firm and test my knowledge of the firm.
This was followed by several logic questions posed by a trader.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you go about calculating how many underground stations there are in London?
First round 30 min phone call with HR. Recruiter was not very personable and asked very generic questions. Asked about times I worked on projects I liked and projects that I did not like.

Question 1
Describe your resume and why do you want to work here?
I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Oct 2024
Interview
I didn't get past the take-home test. I asked why I didn't get past and they wouldn't tell me. I could've maybe tried to do a python script to wow them but I heard of someone doing that and still failing to get the job. Though I will say that my excel wasn't the prettiest.

Question 1
A document to assess haircuts. This was an excel takehome test.
Started with a test, then phone call with HR. Technical round and in person interview after . Interviews were interesting , though some questions didn’t seem related to the role. Process was quite long but HR person was great and she gave quick updates.
