I applied online through Careerbuilder.com for a different position, the HR recruiter called and informed me that there was a different position for which I was more qualified. I was required to send in my graduate school transcripts and then was subsequently offered an interview.
The interview was conducted by two individuals--the hiring manager and the direct supervisor of the position. Both were very personable and asked the basic general questions to be expected in an interview: Why do you think you're qualified for the position, What are your long term career goals, etc. The rest of the interview consisted of going through my resume and transcripts and describing how my experience fulfilled the requirements for the position.
I felt that this interview went really well, and was assured that I would be notified of the decision whether it was good or bad. Unfortunately, this promise was not delivered. I had to eventually come to the assumption that I wasn't right for them because I wasn't sent as little as an email or standard letter of decline, which was very disappointing. I think if a company OFFERS that they will notify candidates of their decision no matter what, they should follow through. It takes very little time and effort to send an email to let a candidate know that they weren't chosen!
