Multiple steps, first with hiring manager, then research manager, and finally with the PI. After meeting witht he PI I was told that they went with another candidate. After which the hiring manager told me I can interview for another department. The same thing happened, and now she has asked me again if I would like to continue interviewing... so I have no idea what they are doing.

Efficient and professional. After submitting my resume in response to the job posting I was interested in, I received a call back within a week and was in the MSKCC offices for interviews within two weeks.

Call from HR department who matched me with a team a few months later, had an in person interview with the team. They were all really nice. Was then followed up and was placed on an alternative team which had a completely different dynamic and culture than my interview.

Interview
I was called about 2 weeks after applying online, and scheduled a phone screen interview. The phone screen took about 10 minutes and I was asked pretty generic questions about my research experience and clinical experience. They then said I would need to come in for 2 more interviews over the next month, which seemed a little excessive.
