I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Midwest Recovery Center (Kansas City, MO) in Oct 2023
Interview
I have my own business as a trauma practitioner and hypnotherapist with a trauma coaching program that has grown very fast. I called Midwest Recovery Center because I was interested in bringing my work to a population that couldn't afford my program. This was an offer of charity because the amount they wanted to pay for group sessions would result in a money loss on my part. They were very excited at first, or so it seems. They wanted a write-up of my background, my credentials, and a curriculum. The director wanted to bring somatic experiencing into the center. I expressed concern over the mental and emotional state of their residents, and they would be too fragile. She said it would be fine, they had people who were trained to handle any emotional outbursts and to write up a curriculum. I did and I never got any feedback on it. I was eventually instructed to come to orientation. I took a day off from seeing clients and went to orientation, once again, at a loss of money on my part. When I got there, it quickly became apparent they had not actually researched or really understood much about me and my work. It also became clear they never really reviewed or processed my curriculum because they began to reject it for the very reasons I had cautioned them in my emails with them. I attempted to negotiate and present them with an alternate curriculum. They said "sure" and told me to go write it up for them, but my intuition told me they were already devaluing and dismissing me. Regardless, I decided to see it through. I spent an evening writing up the second curriculum and sent to them. Without much surprise, I never received a response to it. However, I received a very short and disrespectful email telling me they would no longer be contracting with me. I asked for feedback as to why and sure enough, they were rejecting me for the concerns with the first curriculum that I had brought up on day one. They did not even read or consider the second curriculum they had asked me to invest time into writing. The lack of respect, due diligence and research shown here is staggering. I ended up losing out a lot of time in sales to do what was essentially a charity offer on my part and none of them cared at all to actually read or research what I was presenting.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
None. That's the point. They wasted a lot of time without treating me or my work very seriously.
