I applied online. I interviewed at Mindbody (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2019
Interview
Applied online, received an email from Caleb - new recruiter (1 month with company) - set up brief introductory call/interview. Caleb was nice, he knew a fair amount about the company or job - he admitted he was new. You can only know so much in 1 month. Next step is to take the CCAT and a Personality Test. The CCAT is a cognitive test (50 questions in 15 minutes) and the personality test isn't timed but takes about 40 minutes. You aren't expected to answer all 50 questions - matter of fact, it would be a red flag. The test is difficult- you should take the practice test. I did the practice and I did fine - but I like this kind of challenge. A lot of people I told about it were uncomfortable with the thought of it. Next step - meet with the SVP, Consumer Products (David Sweeny - formerly from Ebay and Apple). Mindbody was bought from its original founders in Feb by Vista Partners (VC Firm - looks reputable and like someone I'd like to work for) - bringing in pedigree players, etc, etc. David was nice - didn't blow me away either (only their 6 months). This role is to grow a consumer base to frequent a new B2C platform (which is already live so it can't be a secret) that serves up the services offered by it's B2B small biz owners. Lots to be flushed out - David didn't share a lot of details with me (maybe with others). I could tell he had already had his candidate by the time he got to me. He was polite - but not all that engaged. e.g. What's your passion? Before I could answer, he moved on. Not offended - I've been on that side of the table myself - It was a good reminder for me to be more patient next time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing too earth shattering - matter of fact, I was ready with all of the metric I've used on the conversion funnel for apps attached to bigger programs - I didn't get to show off any of that - I kept trying to work it in...no go.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Mindbody (San Diego, CA)
Interview
I applied for the position (located in San Diego) and was contacted less than a week later. Had a really nice phone call with the talent acquisition person. We talked about how my experience was extremely relevant and went over the higher level points of the position. He mentioned there was a lot of travel that would initially be involved, up to 60% for the first 6 months, between their HQ location in San Luis Obispo--to touch base with the VP who would be the direct report for this position--and their Arizona location. He also mentioned that this was a new position so a lot of creativity to build the team would be involved. He asked if I would be willing to relocated if necessary, which I was not. Relocation wasn't something I saw in the initial job description. As I was in the final interview stages with 2 other companies, I asked how quickly they interview and hire and he mentioned it as a pretty speedy process that would include a panel interview with the San Diego team and a video call with with VP.
Lastly, I was asked to take a CCAT test and a Personality assessment test. Both tests were contained 50 questions and had a time limit of 15 minutes each. Once he sent the links over for the tests I had 72-hours to take them. Overall the call lasted about 40 minutes. I took the tests but did not make it to the next round, which I anticipated. While I took some free CCAT practice tests to help me prepare, these simply aren't my forte and I'm admittedly not the best test taker especially when they're timed. If you're not familiar with these tests and want to prepare, the best advice I can give is to take some of the free tests online so you can get an idea of what they're like. The personality test was pretty straightforward and easy to complete.
