The interview process started with an initial call with HR, which was fairly standard and professional. After that, I was given a technical task to complete a simple React app for currency conversion using a public API, with an emphasis on clean code, TypeScript, and React Query.
I completed the task, deployed it, and submitted my solution. Instead of constructive feedback, I received a generic rejection email stating that they were looking for someone with a stronger focus on UX/UI considerations, despite the fact that the task itself had minimal UX/UI requirements beyond "keeping the UI simple and easy to use."
Overall, the experience felt like a waste of time, as the evaluation criteria seemed unclear, and there was no meaningful feedback provided. I wouldn’t recommend investing effort in their take-home task unless you’re prepared for vague reasoning in the final decision.
