      Account Director Interview

      20 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mondo (New York, NY) in Nov 2018

      Interview

I initially received an abrupt and unannounced phone call from Mondo's HR team while I was at work. They did not ask if it was a convenient time to talk, and did not tell me they were conducting a formal phone interview. Because I was at work and this was my first initial contact with Mondo, I asked if I could call back later on, they allowed me to schedule the phone interview an hour later. When that time came about, the HR person was ten minutes late to call me, and screened my call when I attempted to call her at the scheduled time. This phone interview was pretty standard, "why sales" "are you okay with cold calling" etc. A few days later I was told that they would be proceeding with my interview process and asked me to schedule a time to come into the New York office. After a series of interviews we scheduled a date. When that date came (the interview was scheduled for 2:30) I was called 6 times, emailed twice, linkedIn messaged, and texted 3 times all between 8 am to 8:30 am. They wanted a confirmation that I would be attending the interview. Never the less, I proceeded to the interview. When arriving at the office they situated me in a room and had me speak to the HR individual whom I had already spoken with on the phone and through email. I was told I would be speaking to their Head of Accounts (presumably my boss) and that she would be in shortly. After speaking with the HR person and waiting in this room for around 10 minutes alone, an account director came in and introduced himself. He asked me the exact same questions as the HR individual before him, even in the exact same order. Never the less we got onto a good conversation about the job and its perks and requirements, to which I felt comfortable and like the interview was going well. After this the same HR individual came back in and told me that their Head of Accounts was too busy to speak with me and she would reach out another day. I was escorted out quite shortly after this. I sent out a thank you email an hour later, and a follow up email around a week later. Neither were replied to, and I have not received an email from the company since.

      Interview

I was spoken to in such a rude manner by one of the sales managers. I have never been treated so curtly before in all my years of interviewing for different roles. I'm not sure if they try to use scare tactics or something over at Mondo, but I have no interest in working for a company with that kind of environment. It seems like they take advantage of young, unexperienced college graduates who are dying to be seen as professionals.

Phone screening with internal recruiter, in person interview with 2-3 sales managers (one in the local office, the others from corporate) Unfortunately, the internal recruiter never responded to my feedback from the in person interview. I take it that I didn’t get the job, but a rejection is more professional than no answer, especially since we had been in communication for about a week.
