I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Morningstar in Nov 2010
Interview
Pretty straightforward interview process. I had one on-campus interview and a final round interview in their Chicago office. The sheer number of candidates interviewing in the final round (M* has 3 Final Round days) is pretty intimidating but the day is fairly relaxed with four interview with HR/Manager/C-level people.
The offices are really cool and modern. People are extremely nice and the process was an organized, pleasant experience.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Morningstar (Chicago, IL)
Interview
3 question computer generated questions, 1 30-min behavioral based interview with one of the employees, 4 30-min back to back with a different employee each session, 1 case study with two other candidates

Interview
The first level of the application was a video interview round. There were three questions, each with a response time of a minute or so, you also get a few seconds to prepare.

Interview
After submitting an application, I quickly received an invitation for a pre-recorded interview. You have about 20 seconds to think of a reply and immediately record a 60-second response to the question. The questions were very broad, like "why should we hire you?" and "why do you like Morningstar?"
