The interview process was overkill for the position. The process consisted of 5 interviews. (If I was successful there would have been 1 maybe 2 more interviews and references)
First there was a phone screening call, then an interview with hiring manager and then 3 back to back 30 minute interviews with 3 people from the team.
Quite frankly the final block of back to back interviews could have been a joint call. Overkill and a waste of manpower and time for both me and them.
None of the interviews really differed in theme of questioning other than the hiring manager interview being a bit more technical but tbh they could have hashed this process out in 2 interviews 3 at a push.
After receiving an email saying they had chosen to go with a candidate who's experience more 'directly aligned' with the role, I asked for feedback as my experience matched up to the job description pretty perfectly.
I then received an email saying that they were impressed with my experience but had expected a deeper understanding of the company and more of an interest in the company culture. I found this amusing as across the 5 interviews I was only asked 1 question that related to the company and its culture.
In my opinion the companies culture isn't that public. Their 'about us' section on the website only has about 5 lines and none of it mentions culture, the rest of the page is dedicated to Ai and awards they have won.
On a personable level the interviewers were nice and friendly. I think it is a matter of process and policies that make this interview experience very poor and off putting.
After this shambles of an experience, had I been offered the role I would have declined.
