      Development Director Interview

      19 Oct 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at New Story

      Interview

Interview was cancelled and rescheduled twice with no communication following. After not hearing anything for several weeks and moving forward with my search, I received a condescending rejection email that cited lack of basic experience/skills that were not asked about during the interview. I was left with the impression that those that I spoke to did not have a high level of familiarity with the field or its best practices. I’ve interviewed with several organizations and understand that hearing back is not a given and not every person is a fit for a role or organization. I was compelled to leave a review for this interview (which is a first for me), because the process was so unusual and bordered on offensive. The organization seems to be solid, but I think they are looking for youth and someone that they can mold into their culture, rather than alignment to the job description. This is understandable, but communication could have prevented wasted time all around.
