      Mid-level Software Engineer Interview

      13 Apr 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Numerator in Apr 2025

      Interview

The short version: I was approached by a recruiter who told me about this wonderful opportunity. About a week later, another recruiter called me to discuss my experience a little more in depth. 2 weeks after that I was sent a CoderByte assessment link. 3 technical rounds?! 1st round: CoderByte assessment. 1 hour, 5 challenges, and 5 multiple choice. 1 SQL, 1 React, 3 Python. 2nd round: Whiteboard Interview 3rd round: Technical discussion/panel I can admit, I'm not the best engineer in the known universe, but this role would've been a pay cut from my last role, and the assessment is pretty robust for someone building backend systems. The evaluation system has to change--I know folks don't have a ton of time to assess candidates but t evaluating candidates as though you need a degree to build APIs and backend systems is pretty unrealistic. Good luck with your search, Numerator
