I applied online. I interviewed at Ocean County Internal Medicine (Lakewood, NJ) in Dec 2014
Interview
Initial communications were through email and phone. They called me in for an interview to meet the docs and tour their practice. The HR staff and supervising docs were very friendly and welcoming. Given the area, almost every employee is very religious (Jewish) (I am not). Females do not engage in shaking hands etc. The facility itself was fairly nice with 14 exam rooms, EHR, and they at extremely well staffed. They are so busy and have such a heavy patient load that they are frequently turning down non-sick patients. One big red flag was that one of the female techs came running out of an exam room crying that she doesn't get as much respect as everyone else! By the time I got home, I received a call saying they'd like to hire me.
Negotiations did not go as I hoped. They made a fair salary offer but they only offered malpractice liability insurance and max of 2 weeks paid time off. They offered no health, dental, or vision benefits for full time or part time. They offered no life insurance, no disability insurance, no CME reimbursement, no 401k, licensing or certification fees, no DEA license costs, or organization dues reimbursement. I turned it down. They asked me to come work part time for $40 an hour which I also declined.
